Ann Black Deem , 98, of Parkersburg, died May 10, 2001, at her residence. She was born in Ritchie County, daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Laura Virginia White Black. She has been a school teacher and had taught in the W. Va. school system for 45 years before her retirement. She was a Baptist by faith. She is survived by her son, Peter E. Deem of Belpre, two daughters, Pearl Johnson of Grantsville, and Martha Dawson of Bens Run, WV., 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Holland Deem in 1978; and one sister, Maude Brand. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg, with the Rev. James R. Butt, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery of Mineral Wells. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral home.
