She was born September 29, 1918 in Roane County, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. William Sylvester and Elizabeth Siers States.

Claudine worked at the Viscose and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family and helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Forrest C. Brown whom she married on July 2, 1939; her daughter, Betty Adams of Canal Winchester, Ohio; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Brenda Brown, of Grantsville, WV; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Melvin Brown and Kenneth Anderson; and several nephews and a niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lyda Stephens States two sisters, Pauline States and Geraldine Anderson; three brothers, the Rev. W. Glen States, Paul States and his wife, Imogene and Carl States; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brown; one son-in-law, Paul Adams; and a niece Susan Creech.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Limestone United Methodist Church with Pastor Vera Archer officiating. Burial will follow in the Limestone United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter, Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Office, 1218 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.1
