Twin Brother Handling New Gun When It Suddenly Discharges

Albert C Deem, 19 year old son of Moses E Deem of George street, South Parkersburg, died at 7 o'clock this morning at Camden Clark hospital from accidental gunshot wounds.

The youth was accidentally shot in the calf of his right leg by his twin brother, Delbert, at the boys home in South Parkersburg Sunday evening. The boys had purchased a new pump gun and were preparing to go rabbit hunting today.

Delbert was handling the gun when it suddenly discharged while Albert was walking past his brother, the rifle barrel pointing toward his legs. The tragedy occurred about 7 o'clock and the wounded youth was rushed to the City hospital where he lingered in an unconscious condition until death claimed him.

His leg was badly shattered and attending physicians amputated it at the hospital in an effort to save the young man's life, but but he was unable to withstand the shock. The shooting occurred while the father was attending church services. State Police made an investigation.

The young man was born and reared in South Parkersburg. Besides his father he is survived by two brothers, Walter and Delbert, the latter his twin brother, and seven sisters, Mrs. Faye Kirk, Lois, Elma, Audra, Velma, Eleanor, all of South Parkersburg, and Helen Sams of Akron, Ohio.

Funeral services will beheld Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from South Parkersburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. W. K. Riggs in charge. Interment will be in the Foley Cemetery.
