Postal Retirement- Following 43 years of steady service plus seven years of substitute work, for a total of half a century, Snowden F. Robbins has retired. Appointed a substitute carrier at Washington, WV, March 5, 1908, Robbins was made a regular rural carrier, Feb. 1, 1915 and retired from this post yesterday. A native of Washington, Robbins married Miss Nora Deem, daughter of W. L. Deem, a now retired rural carrier, and they have one daughter, Mrs. Hilma Blair of Washington, D. C. In the picture, K. M. OBITUARY - PARKERSBURG NEWS ROBBINS SERVICE IS ON THURSDAY
Funeral services for Snowden Fankauser Robbins, 84, of Rt. #2, Washington, a rural mail carrier for 50 years, who died Monday morning will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Shaver and Son Funeral Home with entombment in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in Sunset Memory Gardens. He was born in Washington, son of the late J. W. and Charlotte Fankauser Robbins. He was a member of the Wood and Wirt County Rural Mail Assoc., a 50 year member of the Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge No. 3 and Scottish Rite Bodies. Survivors include his wife, Nora Deem Robbins, a daughter, Mrs. Forbes Blair (Hilma) of Silver Springs, Md; two grandchildren; and a nephew, Carl D. Memel of Washington. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Shaver and Son Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
