H. CLARK DEEM RETIRED AT W-P Monday, 8-24-1970
H. Clark Deem, supervisor of Receiving and Stores, retired this month after 44 years at Walker-Parkersburg, Division of Textron, Inc., Tom Evans plant manager, announced today. Starting at 40 cents an hour, 12 hours a day, Deem's first job was as a helper in the Tank Department. From there he worked his way up to Department Foreman. In 1964, when Textron bought the company and renamed it Walker-Parkersburg, Deem was appointed foreman of the Parkersburg Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings Structural Department. During Deem's tenure as foreman of the Structural Department, Parkersburg Building Systems more than doubled in sales. Deem and his wife, Florence, who reside at 1210 Williams Street, have one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Workman and one granddaughter, Cheri Renea Workman. on 24 August 1970.

OBITUARY - H. CLARK DEEM - JANUARY 12, 1983
H. Clark Deem, 74, of 1210 Williams Street, Parkersburg, died Wednesday morning in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born at Mineral Wells, a son of the late Lafe and Frances Holland Deem. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, and had retired as a foreman from Walker Parkersburg in 1972 after 44 yeas of service. Surviving are his stepmother, Roxie Deem, of Parkersburg; his wife, Mrs. Florence Johnson Deem; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Williamson of Belmont, WV; four granddaughters, Sherri Workman, Miranda, Jamie and Regina Williamson, all of Belmont; a brother, Stuart Deem of Chesapeake, Va., a half brother, Basil Deem of Sacramento, Calif; three sisters, Marian Phillips of Cairo, Elva Dixon of Parkersburg, and Kathryn Coe of Vienna. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m. in the Leavitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Garland Lewis and the Rev. John W. Keck officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and until the hour of service Saturday.
