Spencer. Richard Arthur Deem 76, of Spencer, died May 11, 1994 at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness. He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Cyrus and Clara Payton Deem. He was a baker and formerly owned and operated Deem's Tasty Pastried in Spencer. He was also a former food manager at Jackson General Hospital and Roane General Hospital and assistant administrator of Gordon Health Care in Spencer. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, the Tadmor Shrine Temple in Akron and Masonic Lodge 3 in Parkersburg. Surviving are his wife, Blondell Reed Deem; three daughters, Eleanor Bailey of Texas, Janice Greenleaf and Sue Meadows, both of Parkersburg; two sons, Jim Deem of Spencer and Richard Deem of Alabama; one sister, Virginia Boyd of Vienna, and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Evers and Helen Johnson, and one brother Robert Deem. Services 11 a.m. Sunday. Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer. the Rev. Randy Whited officiating. Burial Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near Mineral Wells. Visitation 3-9 p.m. Saturday.
