He was born in Wood County, a son of the late Cyrus R. and Eltha Page Deem. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Deland, Fla. He was a 52 year member of the Woodman of the World Camp No. 1 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Early in his life, he was a machinist and tool maker. From 1949 until 1970, he and his wife, Letha Wilson Deem, owned and operated the Blue Goose Grocery Store in Wirt County. In 1970 they moved to Florida where they have resided for the past 10 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lois Campbell, of Parkersburg, two sisters, Mrs. Louise Connor, of Deland, Fla, and Mrs. Mary Province of Kent, Ohio; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Deem, one son, W. E. Gene Deem, five brothers and three sisters. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with the Rev. Alvin L. Guyon officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery on Route #14. Friends may call at the funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.2
