OBITUARY
Charles B. Deem, 78, of 2315 Franwood Place, died early today at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born September 3, 1885, at Chesterville, Wood County, the son of the late Michael L. and Laura Deem, and was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. He was one of the six founders of the West Virginia Association of he Deaf having served as president of the group and treasurer for 20 years. He was also a member of the International Typographical Union and was one of the best known hand typesetters in the area having been employed from 1910-1957 at Scholl Printing Co. Survivors include, his wife, Mrs. Christine Anna Deem, Parkersburg, three sons, Paul B. Deem, Manitou Beach, Michigan, Donald Y. Deem, Bradenton, Fla., Charles, Jr. with whom he resided of Parkersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Crawley of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Mae Wallace of Atwater, Calif. Two brothers, William Deem, Mineral Wells and Harvey Deem of Akron, OH., and 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Leavitt Funeral Home with the Rev. W. O. Neisch officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight.
