THE DEEMS CONNECTION 18th EDITION

The guardian of the minor children of Peter Deems, was A. D. Scott, after his death at Andersonville Prison Camp, GA. scott sold land on March 5, 1866 for them and it is recorded Book 4 h, Page 299. Johnson Waycott, guardian filed a receipt for $51.77 balance in full for William C Deems on the 9th of July 1874. An indenture where Peter Deems paid his brothers $250.00 for a house in Centerville, located on lot 28 for his mother Ann to live in. Made out on the 2nd of March 1857.

Peter died on the 26th day of April 1864 in Andersonville after being captured during the Civil War. His papers from Washington D.C. say he was captured near Burlington, WV on 4th of August 1863. February and March 1863, Hospital Cook, July 1863, absent on duty at New Creek by Col. Dick Carn. Post. He joined for duty on the 19th of September 1862 at Washington, PA for three years. He was mustered in on 14th of October 1862 at Wheeling, WV. He joined Company F, 22nd Regiment Calvary
